Or you're going to have to set an alarm to go off every 2-3 hours to keep it going. Or not sleep. We've been heating with wood for 4 winters now. I kinda hate it. I'm the one that stays up with it all night. It's like having a newborn again. Well, at least fires don't scream... So there's that.

I had a friend that lived in michigan back country who lived in an old house with only wood heat. Every morning in the winter he would post the temperature in his house when he woke up. Its one thing to put up with that shit when you are camping for fun, but every day doesn't sound like fun to me.

I'm the bane of my husband's existence. We have central heating. I don't turn it on, I wear another hoodie because it isn't that cold. My husband walks in from work every morning basically cussing me out. Not my fault his body sucks at keeping warm, I thought that was my job as the woman of the house.

This is the kind of places I slept when I was hiking the AT. Don't want to roll in your sleep here. Problem with this location was a storm came in during the night. While it was an awesome light show to watch it come in, the rain came straight up that ridge in blew in under my fly.

Until someday when something goes horribly wrong in this country and the only thing that keeps you warm is that wood burning stove.

it will take no time at all to have to learn how to build a fire and keep it going. You don't need 10- years of practice.
