the old show was better in my memory than on a rewatch, also
just like quantum leap.
fantastic show.
but watching it today... not so great.
which I'm ok with
sometimes things are better in memory, and don't need to be recreated
I've been rewatching the old show with my kid, and it has lived up to it for me. But probably cuz I'm watching it like I am a kid again :)

There was also this, but I'm 99.9% sure this was just a cringe-worthy typo:

"Among the respondents, we observed three categories of tasks in those companies that have already tested the crowdsourcing in pilot projects within their business: small tasks (companies use crowdsourcing for small tasks such as image recognition using the Amazon Mechanical Turkey platform)..."

I dunno, I can't find anything about it other than that thread and tweet and what I think is the other fake twitter account. Unless you or someone reliable here saw the original tweets I think it's either an overblown interpretation of what that requester I linked said or made up.

And people went nuts in response to that tweet, just projection, assumptions, and craziness out of the gate.

Why are we here? Do you turkeys ever sleep?
fixed that for you

I've only watched a few episodes in my life.
back then it was starman, quantum leap, wonder years.
obviously depending on what day it was
back when people all over watched shows at the same time,
and didn't have access to a show whenever/whereever
I feel like the ready availability of shows now-a-days leaves very little to talk about with others
and that's why shows like game of thrones and walking dead are so popular - they very specifically only show at certain times

I'm picturing little metal turkeys strutting around gobbling with little mechanical clicking sounds.

I saw the original tweets when it happened, but like I said, it was years ago and searching Twitter for "turkey" yields way too many results to dig through.

I was late teens when the original came on, but we never missed it. Freakiing loved him. I still "macgyver stuff" in real life. all the time. give me duct tape and a paper clip and I'm all there.

Probably easier to find people talking about it afterward but I don't remember anything about it so maybe it didn't get discussed on mtg or it was before my time.

I'm ashamed of the amount of surveys I have done today.

I don't know how to post an action but if I could it would say.

Pippa is over analyzed.

That Yale Survey accept page perfectly describes how Amazon without cause, aside from their greed, decided to sabotage requesters and workers on mturk with their rate increase. In what dimension does Amazon think it is okay to raise their fee from 10% to 40% with no real reasoning which essentially is bottlenecking and leading to the slow death of mturk.
