Being without a car sucks, paying a loan sucks, paying cash for a POS car end up with 'sucky' moments, having money for a decent car and paying cash...awesome, and should be something to work for...if a situation where it is just not feasible at the time, no way to work without a vehicle and have to choose another option...life.

A girl I knew who I worked with, was on food-stamps, housing (she has 4 kids, works hard full time also, boyfriend kind of a jerk) let her boyfriend talk her into putting her name on his application for a $50,000 car...that last part is the only part, though not my place to judge...doing so anyway..that I'm really seeing as REALLY not smart.

why does everyone hate loans/debt? Its just a part of life. I know people thatve been in community college for 10+ years because their literally paying for every class with their grocery store earnings. I just stare at them like "Thats not how any of this works!"

It's because you can't default on student loans. Some college degrees are not worth it in the long run. I believe the best thing to do is save and invest your money into real estate. Real estate is the one and true way to generate a lot of wealth. Renting homes can make you a ton of money while the house itself appreciates.

I paid my way to 2 A.S. Degrees from a state college. I don't do loans either. At most I did 3 classes a semester.

Eh, pick the car and play around with a calculator at paying off the loan over the course of a year or something instead of the usual length. http://www.finaid.org/calculators/scripts/loanpayments.cgi

If you can actually get a good rate then it's like $160 interest to get it a year early (on a $20k car). You'd just have to watch out for whatever fees.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to do with our car. Make large payments each month and get it paid off ASAP.
