Yes, I am so glad we were able to rescue Lily at least! She was found by a rescue volunteer on the streets at 3 months old so we know nothing of her parents/history and we adopted her just before she turned 4 months old. She's a very high energy puppy, and the friendliest dog I've ever seen. She's doing great now and is being spoiled and loving all of the attention.

They do have social media and I have been sharing their Petfinder profiles and asking around to try to find them homes, but unfortunately they're pit bulls/pit mixes so sadly it seems like people just don't want to adopt them. :'( They are such sweet dogs though, very calm and laid back. Our favorites are Karma, Savannah, and Banjo:

That is an awesome goal/dream! The animal rescue here is great. I'm thinking about at least trying to volunteer for them to help out a little.

In my experience, rescued cats/dogs end up being the best pets to have, and never lose that bubbly, loving sense that seems like they're grateful you found them. I'm glad she's doing well and happy in her new home. I bet the kiddos adore her!

I would adopt all three of them, if I wasn't too far away. I hate that so many people fear pits. You're right, they are incredibly sweet. People used to call them "nanny dogs" for how gentle they are. Bad people ruined it for them, not the breed itself. I have friends who each have multiple pits, and the only danger they pose is that they'll get so excited about licking your face that you end up with a cut on your lip. (Which was totally my fault too, because I was happy to see this particular dag and leaned down excitedly at the wrong moment.) They are GREAT with my friends' kids.

Volunteering is a wonderful thing, because funding is often so minimal that they need help with even filing and taking calls for the organization. Even if I don't get to have a rescue of my own, I will continue to volunteer. You meet some of the best animals and nicest people doing it. Depending on your children's ages, they may enjoy it as well.

mTurk Withdrawal to Bank Question
Does anyone else withdraw their funds on Friday from Amazon, but it doesn't deposit into your bank on Saturday? It does on Monday.
I withdraw from mTurk everyday, but it wasn't until 1 or 2 weeks ago that I realized Friday withdrawals no longer deposit on Saturday morning.
I withdraw my payout pretty early (3 am - 7 am) so it has enough time to process for next-day deposit.
Is this just me or is this happening to everyone? Or maybe it's my bank.

Maybe it depends on the bank? If I do a Friday withdraw in the morning I'll see a Saturday deposit. If I do a Friday withdraw mid-afternoon it's for Monday. B of A FWIW.

Funny that you mention that ... my sister recently went through a Harry Potter phase (she has 3 teenagers) and her and my mom had a mini-tiff on FB because she was posting so much about it throughout the year. My mom's last word one the subject was basically "you KNOW that's for teenagers!?!"

Ugh, I feel the same way. We adopted a rescue puppy in November and I'm, like, attached to several of the other animals at the shelter now who we saw when we adopted Lily. They still haven't gotten adopted yet and I want to adopt them so bad. :'( I feel sorry for them. I check the adoption site every week to check on them and see if they got adopted (the shelter brings the dogs to PetSmart every weekend to try to adopt them out) and we bring Lily in every few weeks to visit her former foster dad and "siblings" (the other dogs he fosters) and the volunteers.

i got really attached to two dogs before i picked mine, but they were both cute, small, and adopted already. the lil guy i ended up getting is super calm and follows me everywhere :blush:

yep yep. i just continue my daily pattern and mondays are generally nice because more money is in my account than i'd expected . I transfer whatever funds i've got in Earnings available for transfer to Amazon payments when i decide to quit turking for the day, then in the morning i withdraw funds to my bank account. i do this every day..

But here is what I do. -Forgive me in advance if it doesn't make sense-. Usually, when I transfer money from mturk to payments I do it pretty early as well. I'll transfer what ever money that is ready before 2am CST (I'm on the CST zone). Then, if more money is ready, by the time 2am rolls around I'll transfer it over as well. For example, Lets say I do this Sunday night, into early wee hours Monday morning, by the time on later in the morning in the window of 5am-10am, my transfer will be in amazon payments and ready to transfer over to my bank. Then by about 12pm-1pmish, the transfer completes and I get it by Tuesday. I basically do this process all the way into like Friday. If I time it right, I'll get like two deposits in by Saturday.
