Skimmed through most of the report, pretty fascinating stuff. Its an exciting time to be alive, we are watching stuff straight out of science fiction novels become so close to fruition that the EU see it as an inevitability. I suggest checking out the report itself because those articles come off as sensational. It barely touches on robot rights or robot person hood. It's mostly just a report suggesting to establish a basic code of conduct, a way to classify robots, what exactly defines an autonomous robot, transparency in robot programming, establishing a code of ethics for the people who make them, building in kill switches, deciding who the liability should fall on if autonomous robots become a reality and hurt someone/something etc.

I saw something about that and it will go back to what I said earlier. Companies that start employing robots will have to be taxed. They will pass that tax onto the robots and then the people buying the stuff. It will come down to that universal pay that is being discussed and in some places implemented because robots are taking jobs. People will be paid not to work, but someone has to buy the crap so people have to have income. It's gong to be a strange new world. But companies that think they are saving money by using robotics will learn differently.
