Amazon isn't the only one doing it. So can our cable companies, etc, if they want. It's the way of the world today. Makes me kind of wonder about all those books I purchased and DVDs etc, to get me through the Arabic courses I took.

Sure, but they do it so that they can sell you more stuff. There's nothing that they can really do with your purchasing information against you. I scrolled through some of that guy's other videos and he's a little out there.

The people you have to worry about are not the ones that want to advertise to you... but advertisers aren't the only ones with access to these databases. It is naive to think there's nothing that can be done with all that data.

Go read a few dystopian future novels... then read about stuff like Edward Snowden. Not the opinion pieces... go read the stuff that he actually released. Then once you've educated yourself a little bit, get back with me.

I remember some story about Target sending out a targeted ad to a teenager based on her recent purchases with ads for maternity wear, baby products, etc. Her dad completely freaked out about it, Target insinuating his daughter was pregnant. It turned out his daughter was pregnant.
It just probably shouldn't have been Target informing him. Now they say they try not to be quite so obvious about it by couching it in with other products.

Did you yell at something you saw on TV? Was it something we don't discuss here? That will all be recorded with the Echo, no matter how harmless. We are not safe in our homes anymore for prying eyes and ears that can be anywhere and anyone. They won't need those helios they keep flying over this city anymore. They'll just listen. But then I won't get woke up at 3 AM with some helio nearly in my yard looking for whatever.
