THat's a hard decision. I'd probably stay put but that's just because I don't like change and I'd hate to go from soemthing where I pretty much do things my way to something I'd have less freedom. So totally off the turk subject but I need logic here. I just got a promotion at work (most of you know this) it was official on Monday. I have a friend that works for a pretty big company that has a position open and wants me for it. 10k a year raise BUT I have to pay for parking and only get 2 weeks of vacation a year and not very flexible like my job now. I know it's 10k but after tax that isn't going to change my life. I am sooooo torn about what to do. I have been with the place I work now for 16 years, get tons of vacation time and pretty much can do what I want.
Go with what's going to make you happier. Like you said, 10K won't change your life and I know personally, I value flexibility and vacation over the money. Better quality of life.So totally off the turk subject but I need logic here. I just got a promotion at work (most of you know this) it was official on Monday. obviously every case is different, but perks carry quite a bit of weight beyond the dollar amount. If the vacation difference is really that large, you're basically weighing stress (and potential sanity) against the monetary gain. I don't know your exact situation, but if its not "life-changing" and doesn't really open any new doors...So totally off the turk subject but I need logic here. I would stay put if it isn't a life-changing amount of money or something that improves quality of life. There is something to be said for comfort/familiarity - it's worth quite a lot.So totally off the turk subject but I need logic here. 5 years ago I would've jumped at it but my husband FINALLY topped out at his job so the money isn't so much an issue anymore. I get 6 weeks of vacation time now plus every holiday you can imagine off. And all the flexibility I want.obviously every case is different, but perks carry quite a bit of weight beyond the dollar amount. My husband was offered a large raise several months ago to change companies, along with a promotion but the PTO was a lot less and the insurance wasn't as good. But he used the offer to negotiate a raise and promotion at his current job. Is that something you could do? Get the raise and stay at the job you're at?So totally off the turk subject but I need logic here. I just got a promotion at work (most of you know this) it was official on Monday. the simple solution is obviously to use those extra 4 weeks of vacation to make $10k on mturk and call it a wash5 years ago I would've jumped at it but my husband FINALLY topped out at his job so the money isn't so much an issue anymore. Since i just got a promotion I doubt it.My husband was offered a large raise several months ago to change companies, along with a promotion but the PTO was a lot less and the insurance wasn't as good. Money isn't everything. It sounds like you'd have better quality of life where you are now. Plus you can grind away and make up the 10k in your free time. Congrats! So totally off the turk subject but I need logic here. I just got a promotion at work (most of you know this) it was official on Monday.
