During slow times, teach yourself how to make scripts. Time invested now equals money in the future.
Also the longer you are on MTurk, the more you will have to focus on batches. Surveys are all one and done, and sometimes just one per requester.

A few people are able to make decent dailies on just Surveys, but it is hard, and frustrating.

Definitely, I get into some batches now and again when I find some I enjoy, and honestly on days like today will be geared to do more tonight. I tend to find my attention drift more on batches and get bored rather easily.
