The poor kid missed so much school last year that she's embarrassed to go there because it was definitely due to her. Munchausen's by proxy. Grrr. I'm not a parent. But, I love my nephew.

It probably means a lot to the teacher that you're going. We lived in a very low-income district for a school year (very poor suburb of Detroit) and I guess a lot of parents just didn't ever show their faces. My daughter's teacher told me it's always a relief to know someone cares, even if the kid isn't doing well in school. They get disheartened knowing that there are parents who just don't care.
