My daughter is off hiking Mount Monadnock. I was so excited because I assumed I was going with her and her class (they wanted parents to go and I love to hike). But when I asked her if I should go she said, 'you can if you want to.'
When I said: Do you want me to go, she said - well. And then went silent.
So here I am at home.
Is it evil of me that I smile, ever so slightly, as I look out the window and see the rain? (I hope she packed a jacket. She had on a pair of waterproof hiking boots, but she took them off and put on sneakers when she saw that the other girls were wearing their sneakers............).
