I am glad to receive such a warm welcome. I greatly appreciate it! :)

As for the masters qualifications, I am a fairly new requester (this is my first ever HIT) hence wanted to be as cautious as I can be. Over the period of last few days, I realized that there are a lot of non-masters with great stats who could be as good as masters. Alas, I can't open my survey to high performing non-masters now that my HIT is live. But I will keep this feedback in mind as I will have another HIT coming up in a few weeks. Thanks for bringing this up. It reassures me to revise my data collection plan for the next time.

damn you ocmp14 for giving me the qual for the awful hits, yet not the one for the good hits. I very strongly disagree.

I think there is some empirical data to support this, as well. I'd have to fish around to find the study - but I'm 'almost positive' a good one exists :).

Well it's a good (quick) first hit so that's nice :D

Masters is pretty much a lottery, (I'm sure you've been told that, and this next part already but just in case.) You'll usually have better luckwith something like greater than 5k approved and 98% or greater approval rate.

There is no empirical evidence, only anecdotal blog posts.

There is no empirical evidence for either side of the argument... and masters does have benefits for new requesters. For one, theres a high likelihood that any possible volume scammers have already had their account wrecked before they ever have a chance to get masters. The value of the benefits that come from using it aren't concrete or any higher than creating closed quals... but the other side of the argument is basically "we assume its a lottery because we have no information and its unfair that your work isn't available to all of us" The only benefit the non-masters side can honestly bring to the table is that the worker sample size is larger which means more chances to hit target demographics in a timely manner.
