Just saw this. It is a 2 year old Mac book of some kind. He is a student and can get up to 2 reconditioned laptops a year from some place in Ca for a discounted price. Only cost us 900.

Pretty much this. If you don't understand the theory behind a thing, you don't understand the thing itself. I get contacted by a young photographer at least once a month asking to shoot with me second camera... and they are ALL missing the fundamentals. All of them shoot in automatic modes on their camera... they don't know how to control the equipment they are wanting to make their living with. They don't know how to capture good images, they've only learned how to push a button and let the machine make decisions for them. I end up telling them the same thing every time... if you aren't ready to learn yet you aren't ready to demand someone else pay you for it.

Ignoring the obvious joke about assisting someone with controlling their equipment.. I agree with you. If you don't know how to do the Thing, you either spend time learning how to do the Thing or give up on the idea of being able to do the Thing and learn to accept that you let your limitations hold you back by not pushing against them. Expecting anyone else to live your life and complete your goals for you is just silly.
