I think the point for both is that "kids today" are missing out on an important skill that leads to greater ability to be self-reliant and work independently, as well as an increase in the technical thinking skills that each require.

Pretty much this. If you don't understand the theory behind a thing, you don't understand the thing itself. I get contacted by a young photographer at least once a month asking to shoot with me second camera... and they are ALL missing the fundamentals. All of them shoot in automatic modes on their camera... they don't know how to control the equipment they are wanting to make their living with. They don't know how to capture good images, they've only learned how to push a button and let the machine make decisions for them. I end up telling them the same thing every time... if you aren't ready to learn yet you aren't ready to demand someone else pay you for it.

I used to get logged out once every 24 hours, during the 8:00AM hour, for a long time. Lately (like the last week or so), it's been more sporadic and random. So something's changed for me, too.

Did anyone do the second day of that sleep task thing from yesterday? Mine isn't working and I've contacted the requestor, just wondering if it was just me.

I did it. finished and paid already. It was going very slow when I did it this morning. I asked the requestor a question yesterday and they did get back to me fairly quickly.
