One of my favorite mom learnings is that I could be a lil bit 'crazy' and not have people question it because.... new mom So telling people not to touch my stomach (or the best one which I never had the guts to do - reach out and rub their stomach if they rub yours), physically taking my babies away from people when I'd had enough of their being held and the people weren't listening to me, telling people not to visit in me in the hospital until day 2, making sure my in-laws follow my rules when they watch kiddos... I went a little bit mama

The one lesson I have learned (and every mother learns, I swear) is that the only thing we are experts at is our own pregnancy and parenting. Every one has such strong opinions (not in this thread....but all those women in this thread know what I'm talking about, I swear!)
To have a home birth, drugs, medical intervention, doula, RN......strategies about everything. Sit with what you know to be true about YOU and your body - that will tell you MOST of what you really need to know (okay, and then ask lots of questions . Sure people can help (how to b'feed - not to b'feed).......but it's all so personal. And people are so attached to how they did it.

Trust me, you'll see. It will happen at the park, too, when you tell them the baby name you have picked out - (really, that's pretty common...or how unusual, do you think other kids will make fun of that?) or when you are finally watching that toddler on the swing (oh, don't let them do that......or no, no, you should let them do that).

The thing is - you're the expert already (okay, well, mostly!):heart:

Such great advice. Thank you so much. It’s going to be a good test for me because I’ve been working really hard on my mental health, including not being so hard on myself and not second guessing myself at every turn. So I mean it when I say that’s the best advice I could receive.

Mr. Evergreen’s brother and his fiancé didn’t tell anyone the name until she was born. I now totally understand why!

Since my situation was a little bit different then a lot of other womens, my in laws and parents were already up at the hospital as I was rolling into recovery. We had told everyone to let us announce on facebook when we were ready when the baby arrived. Literally 20 minutes after delivery my BSC Father in law was going to take a picture and post it, and I told him not to. He then asked, dead serious, when we were going to have another one. Cause, apparently we need to give the world plenty of babies. :rage2:

I read a story from a woman who was asked by a stranger if she breastfed. She said that she replied with “Do you shave your vagina?” And her reasoning was that if you’re gonna ask me such a personal question, I’ll return the favor.
