Hughesnet is the worst internet service provider on the planet. My ping was never lower than 200, which made it functionally slower than dial up for gaming or even checking email. I gladly ate the contract to get out of it after a year.

I also left and paid the breach of contract. I was without net for 4 years and then suddenly the electric company got a grant to put fiber optic through here. So now I get my net through them.

They might suck but they still provide internet to people that wouldn't otherwise have internet at all

An alternative if you just want basic tv with dvr capability. Just get a tv tuner card for your pc and an hdtv antenna hooked up to that. There's plenty of streaming services for shows, both free and pay as well

Yeah, about that HD antenna...bought one, have it on the TV in my bed room that has the cord cut. I can't get two of the channels I watch regularly. The signal isn't strong enough here, even with a good antenna. So...I just live in a shitty area, lol!

I was paying $185 for internet, home phone and DirecTv. Now I'm just paying $79 for waaaaaaay faster internet and basic cable. For now that's a win, lol. After a year it will go up to $100...but the majority of that is for the internet access.

I hope you finally get it. So much cheaper than hughesnet too! I don't miss the 5 second delay I had with Hughesnet. Also, if it stormed really bad it would go out on me.
