Not sure if this is the right place to ask but does Mturk send out a 1099, last year was the first year I earned enough and I haven't received one yet.

no they don't send a 1099 but they do report your income to the irs if it is over a certain amount. I belive it's 20k but that may have changed.

I didn't receive a completion code on this one, so I put my Turk ID and sent a message to the requester.

I do this sometimes too, but I enter in the Mturk box my ID and the text "no survey code provided !!!"
After making your submission you should immediately write a message and tell him that no survey code was displayed and that other participants noticed the same thing. You should also have a screenshot of the participants' comments in this situation.

NO they don't but they have a new law that went into effect this year that triggers a 1099K if you send/receive $600 or more through your bank account for goods and service and apps like Venmo/Paypal/Zelle etc, not sure if Amazon payments is also affected by this new law

The tax-reporting change only applies to charges for commercial goods or services, not personal charges to friends and family, like splitting a dinner bill.
Previously, these mobile payment apps only had to tell the tax authorities when a person had over 200 commercial transactions per year that exceeded $20,000 in total value, the IRS said.

Starting Jan. 1, the IRS said, if a person accrues more than $600 annually in commercial payments on an app like Venmo, then Venmo “must file and furnish a Form 1099-K” for them — reporting on all the commercial income they collected through the app.

Step up your game and get in touch with IRB, i've never had to go that far thankfully. Sometimes its just not even worth it

Usually just requesting the IRB info is enough - it's a lot more hassle for them than just paying a couple bucks or whatever for a survey. Not to mention a black eye at the school.
That said, looks like I'll have to pursue that - uni is in the UK, but it's $30,so it's worth a little more work.

They do if you've met the threshold. I've gotten one consistently the past 4 years and have already received my one for this year.
