I feel like I get so much crap from people for not taking my kids places when they're sick or not going places with people that are sick. I err on the side of staying home, not letting my son take his germs to school, etc. My in-laws are especially bad about watching my sick nephew and then wanting to take my kids -- then lo and behold everyone in my family gets some horrible stomach virus. Makes me so mad.

My wife gets so pissed at me when I tell her that I don't want Archimedes playing with sick kids. She says it doesn't matter because kids will get sick, anyway - but she's not the one who takes care of him when he's sick. I could never be so cavalier about my child's health. When my mom used to babysit my daughter she would take Ana to the McDonald's play land and say the same thing to me, kids get sick. My daughter ended up in the hospital three times in a year for bizarre secondary infections because her immune system was so trashed from all the shit she was exposed to.

Is it ordinary for a hit to ask you to install a screen recorder? I returned it cause I don't want anyone seeing what I got going on my screen, I might have email, a payments page, or heaven forbid porn open up on a 2nd screen.

It is if it's HIT that requires you to record your screen so that they can see what you are clicking, or looking at. If you are reviewing a website, they need to see what you are seeing to know what the heck you are talking about. UserBob's need a screen recorder, A+ requester. Project ZULU needed a screen recorder. (another website review HIT) I got a lifetime professional license for a screen recorder app for doing their qual HIT(Saved $19.99) Which I used for ...

this HIT, which I also did. Screen recorders are necessary for HITs that are solely looking to see what you click/look at during the HIT.
There's no survey. The screen recording is the HIT. So, yes. It's normal for that kind of HIT. If you have other things going on on your screen, then you wouldn't be able to complete the HIT per their requirements. Plus, you can have it record screen, window or tab. Depending on what you need.
If you are doing a survey and need a screen recorder, different story.

It would just be nice to let me install my own. If all they need is seeing me interact with a site, why such fuss with installing theirs? I always have one installed. Sure for the people that don't really get it, theirs is a great option, click, install, but for some of us others who know our computers, it would be great to have that choice.

You can install your own. They don't care what you use. They just want the video. They don't care how you accomplish it.

Oh okay for that one. I have just seen so many others that want their extension which I don't get if all they need is my screen. Will have to check those ones out.

I hate that "they'll get sick anyway" attitude because it's a self-fulfilling prophecy... if everyone thinks that, then of course they will. And sure, a few are unavoidable, but it doesn't have to be as bad as it is.

I think it's an extension of America's protestant work ethic problem -- it's not OK to put off your work or fun for illness. You should just power through it at the expense of your (and everyone else's) health. My husband always says "it's fine!" too and then agrees that I was right when everyone gets sick I think this year he finally learned a little more and we kept the kids home more and had fewer sicknesses overall.
