Morning, all. In denial about my son being sick again for the 4th time in 5 weeks, courtesy of his cousins.

Seriously, though, who takes their toddlers to a birthday party when 2 have strep throat and another has a cold??? My sister in law, that's who.

I'm always keeping my kid home if he's sick. His grandma is on oxygen and she's doing chemo again. She has a weak immune system, so I always worry about him giving her something. I'm also running after him with a thermometer all day since it's flu season, lol.

I always don't really take him out much right now. thankfully it's cold and no reason for us to be out much lol

I played musical beds last night. First in my son's with him. Then I got in bed with my husband. Then I got on the couch. Then my kid got on the couch and I went back into my bed. (My bedroom gets super hot at night so it's hard to stay in there)

I'm exhausted.

I hate that "they'll get sick anyway" attitude because it's a self-fulfilling prophecy... if everyone thinks that, then of course they will. And sure, a few are unavoidable, but it doesn't have to be as bad as it is.

I think it's an extension of America's protestant work ethic problem -- it's not OK to put off your work or fun for illness. You should just power through it at the expense of your (and everyone else's) health. My husband always says "it's fine!" too and then agrees that I was right when everyone gets sick I think this year he finally learned a little more and we kept the kids home more and had fewer sicknesses overall.
