Once at a family birthday party we were watching a home video and in it, one of my cousins said "wahlah" instead of voila. Another cousin went bonkers and started yelling at everyone. "It's voila! It was amazing.

And that's when I decided to be a writer. No, it was just really funny.

While I applaud their commitment to educating their family, which is usually met with ignorant hostility ... someone should probably have educated that cousin on the definition of overreaction. It's English.
