To paraphrase a survey asked why most Mturkers kept all of their bonus instead of donating to the charity in the study. I answered honestly because they don't like being manipulated by requesters.
I feel like turkers probably invalidate the studies that use that question about donating to charity, at least a little bit. Like aren't they trying to figure out what type of person you are, to see if you would do it or not? Anyone that has spent at least some time doing surveys on mturk has probably seen that same question a hundred times and knows what the deal is. It's kinda like that bat and ball question that studies will often throw at us, not really realizing that we see it every day.
Probably some serious selection bias as well because I know if I was in a position to be donating to charity I wouldn't be spending time on Mturk.

Also, with a few exceptions, bigger charities are sketchtastic with the way they handle money and I'd rather not help hand a marketing team their paycheck.

IKR I think I've been asked to donate at least 5 times today alone and just finished another survey about the bat and ball.

I don't think they really give it so I keep it all to myself and donate other ways.
Maybe it's just a last ditch effort by the requester to not have to compensate you, and it really has nothing to do with the study at all. :tinfoil:

Edit: I should probably add that this is a joke and I am in no way suggesting that the charity question isn't a serious question.

This and, I already donate to charities regularly. So whether I'm asked on a survey or asked by a phone call, my answer is usually "no" as I have already spent the budget for donations. And I'm on mturk to make money, not give it away.

The one I struggle with is the keep it all or give some to another turker. I never know if this it going to be true:cautious:

To add to this:

then they ask you "what percentage of other turkers do you think kept the money or gave/shared it with another turker?"

It's a trap. I sound like a huge d*ck if I'm truthful.

The other ones that bother me for a similar reason are the ones who ask if you want to donate part of your earnings to charity, not a hypothetical bonus amount. Anyone who has been on MTurk for awhile knows that you can't "give away" part of the amount the HIT says it'll pay you.
