Some days it can be a nightmare getting past $20, then doing it again before a break(6-8 hours on a Sunday). I just couldn't imagine a reason why I'd take a break at an arbitrary time like at an hourly job, like every 3 hours, when there may be a 3 hour stretch where I make nearly nothing. I take a break because I've worked a certain amount not because the clock tells me to. The clock keeps ticking regardless of what I'm doing, making it too non-responsive for me to base any decisions on. But, when you don't make a consistent hourly pay and don't do a specific amount of work in any given time period, basing breaks on time seems not to make sense because, on a very slow day, I could end up taking a break after minimal actual effort and little to no pay. I couldn't justify that. Then I'd just watch clocks, not watching the money.
