I had the money for a down payment, but my loan officer told me to have a parent sign for it because I was self-employed and they stopped giving home loans for self-employment. So my mom put her name on the house while I paid the down payment and paid the mortgage since.

So yeah, we "own" it in everything but name.

Cool, sucks they discriminate against self employed, but kind of don't blame them. Too many of them are unpredictable. I'm in Fort Worth and they have some stupid requirements here too. For example, I have no debt more than enough for the 20% down payment. However, since I don't have enough credit lines they denied me. So I had to spend months getting some credit lines going.
