California is the fucking worst if you need help. When my husband was fighting a Workman's Comp battle and I was working full time, we qualified, but only just. And then they miscalculated and overpaid us - we received no further assistance and I had to pay them back in full (including what we were *supposed to receive* or they would have had my wages garnished.
