The type of work that is involved in the test is a lot. I wouldn't do that amount of work for less than $5.
Normally you can find easier ones that only take 5-10 minutes. And you get more efficient with time.

I haven't worked on them since they started asking for screenshots and started changing the pay every batch. BUT the Newport ones were some of the hardest of the initial batches last summer.

Too many trees. Hard to get clear street views. It was nice when they had the address on the front of the house, but getting evidence was tough.

The article definitely gives a lot of information to take a stab at valuing them, I guess. $62,500 for 1300 short term permits, or $48 per active permit. Multiple websites for each permit and then the non-permitted listings would cut that by 3 to like $16 per. And that's for the entire year, so new permits or the same thing being posted again or whatever. And there's no way you'd be paid more than half the final value of the listings, since they have staff and structure and do the sales to the cities. So probably they should be paying the $4 instead of the $2, but they're not royally screwing people.

It's like the street harassment thing, normal men don't see it because they wouldn't think of doing it. I've been trying to get freelance clients. I really need to work, and half of the conversations today have been in this vein: This guy wanted me to run his FB page but would not hire me unless he could see me on skype and inspect my looks...

I'm sorry that you had such a shite experience trying to get work. It's quite unfortunate that some skeevy people make the situation so much more difficult by being creeps. I hope it gets better and you get some good jobs with more upstanding people. <3
