So anyone have any suggestions for helping with vomiting on pain meds. Daughter can't seem to keep them down and I even split them in half.
Awww :( poor babes. Call your pharmacist and ask if there is a liquid version of the med. If not, call your PCP and ask if there is another 'not as strong' pain med (in liquid form). Liquid may be easier to give her smaller doses.

Of course you can try toast or crackers with some ginger ale. Ginger can be calming on the stomach (if it's actually the med that's causing the vomiting due to irritation). She may also be vomiting because strong pain killers cause inner ear/balance/dizzy probs and that can make us vomit as well.

Last resort, see if your PCP can call in a script for some phenergan (helps with emesis/nausea/etc). I'm always hesitant to throw more meds on top of more meds because of the interactions, but if she's in that much pain and can't keep anything down ... it's worth a shot.

I'd call the doctor and explain she can't keep anything down. Hopefully they can give her a prescription for Zofran. I have the same problem. I am a puker, so I throw up when my pain hits a certain threshold, but I also puke if the side effect of a drug is upset stomach.

It may be from her ears, I didn't even think about that with her balance. She had soup and crackers soaked in the broth, she can barely eat due to pain. I feel soooo bad for waiting so long to take her.

When I worked in hospice and patients had trouble with this, the nurses would crush up the pills and mix it with something like a pudding. Is there anything she might could keep down if you mixed it this way? I agree that the doctor should be alerted so you can get her nausea meds. I hope she feels better soon :heartpulse:
