I wasn't expecting this sort of response. Was James doing that "how does it feel to be alive" thing at that point? Can't say I disagree, but DM is still very much so thrash if you can get past the awful sound production.

This was on the ...And Justice for All tour. James hated everything and it was Metallica at their angriest. I thought it was great. He threatened to kick someone's ass in the crowd for throwing a bottle. I guess almost dying in a freak pyrotechnics accident changes a guy.

Semi small world I suppose; my dad was at the concert he nearly died at. I wish I could go back in time to the Seattle '89 gig. I do think the quality of the band went down before/during St. Anger, but it was for the best. I'd rather have a much less angry Metallica than no Metallica at all. Plus, James is a really nice dude from the encounters I've had with him. He told me he wished they could ban smartphones during concerts because he's tired of being blinded by constant flashes while on stage.
