I have to say when I'm watching the news I like seeing all the boats. My son (13) asked me if those were "rescuers". I said, "They are, but not how you think. Most of them are probably just some random citizen with a boat who is now spending his/her time ferrying people to safety." I also told him, "When things seem the worst, honey, look to the every day people who step up. That's the true measure of humanity. And right now we are seeing every day people step up."

there have been all sorts of calls on twitter and generally all over social media asking for help from anyone who has boats and can help. i've never seen anything like this for the Houston area.
