When we were moving up here, we got stuck in N and then S (we have to travel back towards FL it was so bad) Carolina during Hurricane Matthew.

Those coastal communities had no way of dealing with a hurricane. And 1-95 (we were stuck at a gas station) was a mess.

yeh I have a lot friends in Myrtle so I'm hoping it steers clear of there....most of my friends moved from Wilmington when the movie/tv industry left but I still have a couple down there I'm worried for...our coasts are so flat that a hurricane and storm surge can really do a lot of damage....

I had a great uncle at, close to 90, got on a treadmill for the first time.

He survived that.
But I have an image of the workers just panicked (he broke several things, inc. collarbone).
Uncle Bob said, afterwards, all I did was push the button.......

That is TREMENDOUS. And it reminded me of my now deceased brother, George Thomas (Tom) Steele who was an international authority on Law Enforcement Information Technology (LEIT). Always tripping off to Europe or Japan or ______ for conferences. (That computer you see in cop cars? Think of my brother Tom.) ... sigh. i'm a worrier. and these dang animals I have to keep safe. and my damn vacation it's ruining. yesterday a couple roads flooded in flash flooding from 20 minutes of rain....

I'm here in eastern Kentucky, looks like were in the minimal impact zone for the hurricane, for possible flooding rains. Those of you in Virginia's please be safe.

This is my first hurricane season in SC (Florence coincidentally, so a bit inland from Myrtle Beach). our neighbors told us last year during Matthew they were without power for about 6 days and there was some flooding that made it hard to get out of the neighborhood. I've stocked up on stuff we might need and might try to get a bit more today. We have several huge fermenters from homebrewing so we're covered on water.
