Do a scan first. I had a really bad one show up on a work computer that was deep in the system and was able to get rid of it (using free scanners). Took some time, but it went away. I actually got through to someone at Norton when I was dealing with this, and their tech guys called me back for more information. It was in some boot up segment of my computer (can't remember the name now).

inb4 Norton sucks remarks :)
You can never really trust it again though. Its easier just to start from scratch if you know how.

Probably wouldn't be in that situation in the first place.
Well no... I wouldn't be in that situation to begin with. But if my knowledge level were in such a state that I allowed myself to be in that situation, it also wouldn't be at a level to competently correct the situation without scorching the earth.

I can't trust my computers NOW, lol. But it was gone. I had it verified by a pro.

That's fair. You could do that first and then wipe.

Moral of the story is, if anyone calls you, don't give them access to your computer OR personal information, EVER. There absolutely no reason to ever to do this.

..and yes, Norton does suck.

nah Blue @Blue just leaks enough personal details about himself so a person can find him in real life to ask him for scripting help
Not totally a bad thing... I think most anyone who has interacted with me on these forums could find me if they really wanted to. And that has given me the opportunity to photograph a handful of forumites.
