Not really related or anything, but my father was a plant supervisor for Leclerc at one point and always asked me how to spell very simple words. Made me wonder how he got that far. And by simple words I mean stuff like 'processor'.
I have many smart friends who can't spell well at all! Thank goodness for today's technology that helps with that.

I'm on the phone now with real HP and they said as long as I didn't pay them any money i'm ok

not entirely true. I don't know exactly how to fix this if you gave them any information/access to your computer, but you probably need to do something. Someoen who knows better what they are talking about should probably answer you , (maybe like a virus scan/malware bytes scan/change passwords and whatnot)

So far everything's been going smooth, thanks everyone! I'm going to continue monitoring, and reposting this when I remember. Again, feel free to share this with your friends, I just didn't want it to be public.

For those who were here last year for this, I'm planning to do my "Trick or Treat" hits again. For those who WEREN'T here, it was a pretty neat hit. After accepting, you clicked a link to go to your queue, and continued the hit from there. There was a single button that had a 50% chance of approving, and 50% chance of returning the hit (as well as some cheat prevention mechanisms). It was a lot of fun!

Again, I'll be monitoring this for the next few days, not sure when the first hit(s) are going to pop but I'll try to spread it around so that everyone gets a chance.

Autocorrect prefers to not let me spell my last name correctly

Hello, this is your bank. Seems your account has been bugged. I'll be needing your SSN and a credit card to help you out.

As many others have said, this is a scam. I have worked many years in IT, specifically security and no way in hell HP would contact you like this they just dont monitor your system in that way and they dont do cold calls like that. This is a scammer their intent could be as simple as attempting to get your credit card, or they could be trying to slave your machine. If you haven't given them control yet, DO NOT! I have seen firsthand peoples machines being slaved and used for money laundering, if they have already gotten access to your PC, I would call the police. I know that sounds drastic but I have seen someones machine being used for money laundering by terrorists, the guy was locked out of his PC and was just watching hundreds of transactions going through HIS computer and HIS accounts. If you have installed anything from them, allowed them access etc Disconnect your PC from the internet immediately and get it to a professional. Malware bytes and Antivirus can catch normal run of the mill stuff, but a malicious intentional attack will most likely be missed in some part by those programs. Again not trying to scare you or anything but I have seen this many times and it CAN get quite serious.
I usually get calls from a man with an Asian Indian accent telling me has a report that my Windows program on my computer is not functioning right. At first I would just hang up but I tell him now I have an Apple computer. Now he hangs up.

Do a scan first. I had a really bad one show up on a work computer that was deep in the system and was able to get rid of it (using free scanners). Took some time, but it went away. I actually got through to someone at Norton when I was dealing with this, and their tech guys called me back for more information. It was in some boot up segment of my computer (can't remember the name now).

inb4 Norton sucks remarks :)
