I emailed Abby about the pay difference.

Hello,

I was just curious why this batch of "Find the Superintendent" is 10 cents cheaper than the batch of "Find of the Principal"?
They both seem like the same amount of work. Sometimes it is more difficult to find a Superintendent than to find a Principal.

Thank you!

Response:

Thanks for the feedback. We have found that this task seems to be more straightforward and finished more accurately and quickly.

Abby
So people were working too quickly and efficiently so they lowered the pay. You know, in a "normal" job, a worker who was working quickly and efficiently would receive a pay raise, not a pay cut.

I would almost agree with you, but if you work hourly and finish quickly. You only get paid for the time you worked. I knew people who used to drag out work (construction) just to earn more.

'accurately'. Lowering pay is asking for lower quality work. I'm sure she'll see that in effect once the batch is finished.

well mturk is a "normal" job for savvy requesters who know how to minimize costs of how much they pay to get enough of the data that they want

Also, this is why working from queue is so damn important.
