With that said, keep in mind that general operating system load IS divided pretty evenly between all cores, so the duo core is overall going to be a fair bit slower than the quad core in terms of loading programs and such. You might be better off getting some cheap SATA to IDE card and loading the drives in your current system
Thanks everyone for the advice. I will keep it but only as a backup.

My 3 year old decided two days ago to just up and spill a completely full cup of Sprite on my laptop, hence the reason that I am turking again on my desktop. I have a dual screen graphics card in it so that I can clone the screen. I have it hooked to my TV in my living room, but now I have this LCD monitor and I can use it if someone happens to need the computer. (Or I can play playstation while waiting and still being able to catch all those hits!)

Why can't I find a computer by a dumpster? Oh yea, I don't go outside.

Requesters should hook me up with a laptop. . . a gaming one. . . thanks guys.
Honestly, you wouldn't believe how easy it is to nab cheap computers. As long as you know how to fix them.

There is a pawn shop that doubles as a payday loan place nearby. They sell me broken electronics for dirt cheap. I get tablets for $1-$5 each. Do a master reset on them and bam, all my kids have tablets for less than $40. Laptops... I got a really sweet acer thin laptop for $7.77. The laptop had an issue with a locked bios. Looked up online how to bypass it, got the BIOS password and now I have a nice laptop for less than $8. At least until my daughter spilled my drink on it.

I used to buy them and then sell them for parts on ebay or fix them and sell them locally. I would buy them for $30 and sell them for $100 to $150.

Check out local pawn shops and let them know that you will buy their broken electronics. They will jump at the chance to get something for what they had to throw away before.

I had a bf that found a laptop sitting on top of a trash can, left out by the street on trash day. It was a really good one, too. It had so much spammy adware installed on it that we figured they must have thought it couldn't be fixed, so they threw it out. He just wiped the hard drive and installed a fresh copy of windows and it worked great.

I guess finding working computers in the trash is a thing? I almost feel like I should start going outside more.

Mine was outside of one of those recycle bins and clothing donation bins. I hate seeing electronics get dumped there because most people put stuff that doesn't work there, old TVs and such. If it does work, the company picks up once every two weeks. Once a week if you call them to tell them they are full. Most times, the stuff gets rained on and ruined.

Plus, they only want clothing and shoes. Says so on the outside of the bins. Never stops people from dumping their garbage there.

I actually had to take an A+ (Plus) Certification college class for my A.S. degree, so I do know my way around desktop computers.

Maybe I should go outside and see what I can come up with.

Geez, the only things I find in the trash I'd rather not touch...or smell...or know about.

I don't have CompTIA. I just had to take a college class on it. There were 2 A+ (Plus) Certification classes. The 1st one was mandatory for the degree I got, so I only took the 1st one. The class was just on software & hardware problems, knowing the computer parts, taking apart and putting together desktops. . . that kind of thing.

I once had a FT job doing that for FEMA. (Yes, that FEMA...) The job didn't last long though, since it was in an "emergency" setting....) But I liked it!
