I just don't get the focus on returns for batches. If they're not paying a premium on the submittable HITS, don't do the work. If they are, then the pay is fine.
I'm not entirely sure where this conversation has been lately. I only just logged on and the comment I responded to was the first thing I saw... I didn't bother to go backwards and get context. But... bonus structures in hits have been used to scam workers more than once in the past... and when the requesters aren't scamming the workers intentionally many of the rest who implement bonus structures are just absolutely incompetent in maintaining the system. The more complicated the scheme gets, I see it as a general rule that the worker will pay the difference in frustration, extra work tracking everthing and nagging them to get the money, or simply not getting the money at all.

I also think requesters that want you to do the work and then return the hit if you didn't find what they are looking for are scum bags. I don't care about the returns themselves as much as my hourly and the work I'm performing that isn't being paid for.

so either mturk knows that's going to be common practice, they understand it's wrong, and they do the same thing they would against non-compliant requesters

or they don't, and all of this "we're going to do better" talk is just for show.

Doubt we're going to see strict enforcement to the letter of the new rules as opposed to the spirit of them.
TOS enforcement has never been much of a concentration for them. There's been very little evidence in the past of them doing much of anything with non-compliant requesters save for a very few isolated cases we were able to track and document. Until I see actual action in place I assume all talk is empty PR spin/corporate-speak.

yeah, figured as much. just seems odd that they would bother to update tos, and tell electrolyte @electrolyte to tell people here to send bugs her way to report them, if they didn't want to improve.

I've officially been on this forum for a year. When do I truly accept that I'm stuck here forever?

I think we're all used to MTurk being pretty useless as far as doing anything historically. But all signs point to moving toward better communication and actual changes.
