Well, I can't grow a beard or 'stache, and I know lots of women who can!!!!Well, I don't speak for everyone... but in my personal case, I would say when I was in better health. When health problems come in, a man goes from being a viable romantic partner to a burdensome hardship. A man's prime is when he can be an equal partner in his relationships, and not a pain in the butt that needs more help than he gives.
On top of all that, I also can't grow a full beard.
And I think, maybe, burden is in the eye of the beholder. The older me and my friends get (and I am OLD), the more we need each other. Hell, I don't even try for a romantic partner right now. I'm too busy keeping my ass functioning and my kids'! And supporting my friends as best I can.
I do see what you mean, though. Health is important.
I'm super past my prime, but I still got it goin' on. I'm just not marketing it (I'm too damn busy doing yoga trying to keep my body from imploding.)
