Attention: I have an announcement about the trivia challenge tonight. Can I Have Your Attention Please!!! ​

There's something I feel like you all need to know before we get started tonight. You're probably all familiar with the quiz show Jeopardy. Every so often they have tournaments that feature contestents that normally wouldn't be on the show. They do the College Championship, the Teachers Tournament, and the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament. The Teen Tournament is the important one for the purposes of this announcement. I think it's only fair that I let all of you know that a many years ago during one of those tournaments that I correctly answered over half the questions in the first round, ran two categories in the second round top to bottom, got 2 of the 3 Daily Doubles over the course of the show, and easily answered the Final Jeopardy question. I feel silly telling all of you that but thought it was relevant since we were playing trivia tonight. Especially to the people that will be playing tonight.

I play along at home with Jeopardy! contestants all the time. For fun, I would even try to keep my own score and wager on the Daily Doubles. Don't be jealous of my exciting home life.

Quick update! The challenge will run Tuesday until Thursday. More details to come later today or tonight. Also, this was the last week of open sign-ups since we are nearing the last leg of this season. Stay tuned to hear from Vanyanka @Vanyanka or me for your official challenge this week!

WEEK 8 CHALLENGE

Social Butterflies

As a way to honor all of the hard work that our admins have put into making MTC thrive, we thought we would make this week a posting contest. We will run this Tuesday-Thursday. This is an individual challenge, so you are lone wolves. Of course, we don’t want to spam the thread with nonsense, so we have some criteria on posts that will be counted toward success this week.

  1. HIT posts are always welcome. When contributing hits, please be mindful of TO and/or TV. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if this is a HIT you would personally complete before posting.

  2. Welcome Wagon! We have new members every day. Take some time and make them feel welcome. If you click on the Members of the forum, you can see the newest members.

  3. Also in the Members section, there is a handy list of those of us celebrating birthday. Go ahead, tell someone Happy Birthday!

  4. Helpful responses to questions, or anything that adds to a discussion on the forum.

  5. Only posts made on the daily work thread will count.
Random, nonsensical or rude posts will not count toward your total. For example, posting random gifs just for numbers or gibberish won’t score you points.

We know that some members are on the forum more than others because of other obligations. With this in mind, everyone who makes at least 12 posts during the course of this challenge will earn a point. We have other criteria that we will use to assign bonus points this week as well. We won’t let you know what the criteria is because we enjoy torturing you, but just know that we will be watching.

Since we are nearing the end of the season, this will be the last week that sign-ups are open. The 5 castaways with the highest total amount of points for the season at the end of this week’s challenge will move forward to next week. If we have ties that cause us to go over 5 castaways, there will be a special tie-breaker challenge. This is where things get cutthroat, folks. Remember, even if you don’t make it to next week, you will still be rewarded with an Amazon gift card depending on how many points you have on the leaderboard.

We will also be needing former castaways as jury members in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned for that.
