it's just not a good idea. nothing in West Virginia is looking up and our legislature is batshit crazy. rather than try to solve the many problems we have such as hundreds of people are dying here every day from overdosing on heroin/fentanyl, we're hemorraghing so much population that we're likely to lose a congressional seat after the 2020 census, or that no businesses want to move here unless they want to take our natural resources, they are trying to put a state constitutional amendment on the ballot so we can further restrict womens' access to abortion. not getting too political here but WV is last in the country on so many measures for a reason. just not worth it unless you have something reliable lined up

Wow. I thought Arkansas was bad. I don't wanna go to WV at all lol

i wish i wouldve started playing tennis at 3
that would be my dream job

when i have a kid im going to have them play young
You can teach kids in after school programs or during camps in the summer. You don't have to be great as a player to be a coach - you just have to have energy and a positive relationship with the people you are teaching. Why not volunteer some place and give it a try :).

My entire life is a lie. All I heard adults tell me my entire life was I needed to go to college to make a lot of money or else I would end up working on an oil field or as a plumber and now the tables have turned. College is where you go to get 100k in debt and working on an oil field is where you go to make a six figure salary. smh, thanks mom and pops!
So true.
I have two nephews who are brothers. The nephew plumber makes way more than the one who got his Masters in Liberal Arts. lol.
The one who is the plumber already owns his own house and goes fishing on the weekends, while my other poor nephew with the Masters is stressed out working 60 hours a week as a counselor.

I just got Masters and I want to express my gratitude to you all. If it wasn’t for this forum, I never could have gotten the Masters Qual. This wasn’t something that I did on my own. Everyone here helped. Having a collaborative environment like this one where people share, sacrifice and help each other out makes a huge difference.

Ever since I joined the forum, I have been constantly amazed at the sophistication, talent, skill sets and contributions that I see here everyday that go unremarked and taken as simply “everyday". It is more than just everyday. It is special.

Taking on the self-assigned task of learning how to code, creating a mentoring system and an environment in which people are given the space to learn without fear of criticism, building scripts not for personal benefit, but for everyone’s benefit. And where else would you see workers willing to be transparent enough to share the details of their paychecks every week. Definitely not in a professional environment or between competing salespeople in a “sophisticated” corporate culture.

What is happening here is laying the groundwork for the future of what work will look like and this is the cutting edge of it’s evolution. Everyone here has a contribution to make and everyone’s contribution is important even if that simply means reading posts and learning from others. Everyone here matters.

What language are you going to learn? I know a lot of people come to it from different backgrounds or as a career change, so you won't be alone there!
Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React, Redux, SQL, Advanced Algorithms, Data Structures is the course curriculum which is fine by me. I know a lot of people have good things to say about ruby on rails and javascript is like a no brainer to learn. Im so excited! Thinking about signing up for some udemy courses so I wont be a complete noob while I am there

this is a great idea 3:
You now have a few good ideas. Why don't you turn off MTurk and the forum and go investigate each of the options.
See what requirements they need, make a chart with pros and cons for each one, and then you can make a semi informed decision of what you want to do.

This gives me a lot of hope. Im going to a coding bootcamp in June and Im hoping it will be the chance I need to jump into a somewhat secure job.
If this is inappropriate to ask I apologize and if you dont want to answer I understand. How much do one of these bootcamps cost and how long are they?
