I started working at Walmart a month ago and I work nights. I love it. Getting away from turk is the best thing I did.
I'm just worried they will try and make me a cashier, I'm really not... I wanna say not smart enough but that's not quite the right word. I'm just scatterbrained as heck and easily flustered.

Guys, the extra Gift Cards from Francesca Gino seem to be a mistake (at least mine was) Not sure what to do about it????

Gino, Francesca
11:58 AM (24 minutes ago)

Mmmm... that is a mistake! Not sure i can reclaim it. If not maybe people can buy a book for their friends? Arghh

(Maybe we should hang on to the cards until the Requester figures out something else???? I am going to hang on to mine for now....)

aw yay! but I don't usually turk on weekends :( guess I'll just have to put your name on alert and try to convince myself it isn't stalker-ish :p
I'll also still be tagging everyone every monday :p This is also like 4 months away, so you have plenty of time to get tired of me :p

At the 2 walmarts I've worked at, the cashier managers are ruthless about stealing employees from the back to be cashiers. Just make it clear in your application that you will NOT be a cashier (if you're willing to risk the possibility of not getting the job).

That would be the moral thing to do.
Having amazon ship you a bouquet of slim jims with the money is also an option.

You can audit almost all courses on Coursera, but most of the tests and peer grading is not available unless you pay up. I think they have fee waivers, so that might not be a big problem. The quality of those courses are usually pretty high, made by lots of high quality universities.

https://www.reddit.com/r/udemyfreebies/ has coupon codes to get courses on Udemy for free. The quality is hit or miss, and coupons that are offered might not be what you're looking for, but checking that every day can get you some pretty decent courses.

That's the free part, but building up client contacts and actually working from home is probably the harder part. Bigger places that allow remote work will almost certainly want actual job experience. Ironically it would probably be easier to get hired for remote work if you lived outside the US. I would love to unleash my frustrations with incompetent off-shore workers.
Hi,
what does audit courses mean? There is a couple of courses I like to take, but the audit part is a new term for me.

IIRC that means to sit in on the classes but you don't get credit or anything.

Speaking as a former Toys R US cashier....no. Not even once. Tell them you love lifting stuff - show off them biceps if you must.

I was a cashier exactly once, and I've sworn never to do it again. I can be pleasant, cheerful, I can sort things however they want, but having me be pleasant, cheerful, AND operating a drawerful of cash is just asking for disaster and for me to accidentally hand out too much change repeatedly.

You don't think you can make a better hourly here than you can there?
You've been around long enough.
