Medicating, yoga, vitamin D, UV lamps, and meditation have helped me a ton with SAD. Usually only gets me in the winter, though. Also picking seasonal things to be excited about (gourd soups in fall, fires in winter etc)

I feel all you seasonal D's though. Much love to you.

I have a UV lamp that I have never used because I couldn't do a consistent time with the shift I was on, but I can this year. Do you really find it helps?

It's a big problem in the Pacific NW. Everyone I know takes a vitamin D supplement. It helps me a lot I think.
I've never taken vit D pills but I think I'm going to try it this year.

picking stuff to be excited about helps me too. I like to make pretty (ish) seasonal pages in my art journal.

Maybe? It could be placebo and if it is, that's fine, too. I also keep green things growing year round via hydropnics and that hobby has helped a TON b/c I have fresh herbs all the time plus the lamps they use.

And, full disclosure, I smoke a good amount of weed. It has helped a ton. Lifelong severe depression and anxiety and more and more over the last year or so as I stopped seeing it as recreation and more as a medicinal thing, it's changed a lot. I'm no longer as anxious as I was (the reason I don't have a 9-5 job is b/c of the depression/anxiety) But overall I'm certainly a happier more functional person. I don't think it's just one thing, though, it's the accumulation of the things I do. I also tend to work a lot with my hands (I paint, I'm a writer and I use a typewriter to write for the most part, I play guitar and record music with friends) so idk ya know?

So, hobbies, UV lamps, vitamins, hobbies, pot, hobbies, yoga... it takes a village of things.

tl;dr it takes an awful lot of work and every day mindfulness to keep the crazy at bay.

The toilet paper dowel is out of the toilet!! Rejoice!

Not sure that went well >.> Applied for full time, said I wanted full time, and they are hiring for part time.

Whoops
Hey, you got your foot in the door, they know who you are, and now you can harass them for a position on the reg. But you took a shot and that's important!

If they hired you at all, you did it right. Impress them by being reliable and I bet you can have any shift you want in a few month's time.

Retail almost never hires for full time anymore. They get more scheduling flexibility by only hiring part timers and they don't have to spend money on offering full benefits or anything. They'll still ask what you're interested in though, to gauge interest, but full time status is usually only given to people that have already been working there for a while.
