Fun fact, artificial banana flavoring is based on the taste of a type of banana (Gros Michel) that was popular up until it was almost wiped out by fungus, and was replaced by the Cavendish which we have today, which is less sweet and strongly flavored. That's why artificial banana flavor tastes almost nothing like bananas.
