That's funny you say that cause I know of a local dealership that projects one of those ridiculously bright spotlights up into the sky

those spotlights are common around here - used frequently for nightclubs and the domino's pizza when they moved to a new location.

What is spectacular is when it's dusty or rainy in the air and you have a cloud base at like 3000 AGL and the spotlights reflect off the dust or rain like a light saber and brightly light up the base of the low clouds.

It was moving away from me, and planes don't poof outta existence!

Actually it sounds like a helicopter landing with lights on that they turned off. Such craft can move slowly and hover, light up the area big time and fly dark. We have the things squirreling around here all the time.

no, I didn't want to be laughed at! My boyfriend did put out a facebook post asking if anyone else had seen anything. The rocket launch has been suggested numerous times.
