Thats why you gotta room with someone you really know or vet them pretty hardcore.

I've had roommates for the last 6 years and all mine have been fine besides maybe one... but that was more issues with dishes. I haven't traveled into the unknown of randomly rooming with people though so I wouldn't know.

I had a room mate I lived with for 3 years... never had a problem with paying rent... year 4 out of no where he figures that as long as he turns in my half of the rent, it counts as making a payment so we wont get thrown out.

He skipped town and I had to pay all the back rent in order to save my credit... then I had to move back with my parents at 29 years old. ugh

Exactly my situation. I'm one of those workers that does way more than their fair share, except my manager doesn't give a shit about who does more or accuracy -- they just want warm bodies in the seats. I made it clear that I expect a promotion and that's still supposedly coming, but when I said 20% he said that it wasn't possible. Nevermind the fact that I do 30% more work on average, so instead of lighting myself on fire to keep others warm, I make an extra few bucks an hour and get my 20% that way.

Not exactly my situation, and I don't want to say too much (because who knows how these things get tracked?), but let's just say that cost of living has increased and income has not. So it's this, or find another job. I have 3 weeks of vacation here, and I value that too much to jump ship right now.

If it's really an hour task then it is worth at least $30, not eight.

dude, I'm in the EXACT SAME position... I can't stand that bullshit rule that your income has to be 2.5/3 times the rent. I have NO evictions, a credit score in the 650/700 range, and no criminal back ground... but that bullshit keeps me from getting a place I want.

I guess you just gotta haggle. fuck it. it works on mturk, so just meet with a realtor or apartment complex, show them that your earnings are consistant and just beg them to trust you idk

im willing to beg come Nov or Dec.

just have to do great on mTurk until then.

That's for yearly raises. I earned just over 3% this year for my raise. I'm talking about a promotion from one position to another. Manager said I should expect between 7-10% as anything over that requires C-level authorization.

That works if you have a private (non-licenced) landlord. Otherwise, because of fair housing, 99% of the time that doesn't work.

Fair housing laws (Federal ones at least) apply equally to licensed and non licensed landlords. It's just the private ones don't pay attention to them.
