Bees are absolutely fascinating. Whenever I get a house in my life, I want enough land to grow crops and raise some bees. I'm sure it feels very rewarding to know you're helping them out. We would be completely screwed if the bees went extinct or somethingLol someone in IRC says I should tell y'all about bee winter behavior, so I'll spoiler it:

Not too bad, but super interesting!
OK, maybe not everyone is nice here. But people keep the rotten apples under control for the most part.instead of a love button we need an eye roll button

I have a friend who has a hive in her house. Really cool. They have it built into a wall.Bees are absolutely fascinating. we used to have a hive, but the city freaking fined us so I had to give it away to a buddyThey're so much fun. Here's the album I have of this past summer: http://imgur.com/a/f2BKj
I used to hate bees, but since I started keeping them, I've started learning more and more. The more I learn, the more fascinating they are. For example: They do a dance to tell where the flowers are. The direction of their dance in respect to "up" (IE the angle from "up"), the length of the dance, and the speed of the dance tells the others how to find the flowers using trigonometry (up is the sun, angle from up is the angle from the sun, length of wiggle is log(flight time))

Yeah it's a great investment imo, especially with how the pesticides have been severely hurting the bees. If more people stepped up and got their own bee setups going, we could have a chance at helping them prosper. Our food depends on them so it makes sense to me.Super excited to see people planning for future bees. Its been a dream of mine for a long time.
