I don't even want to think about where my autoimmune disease and immunosuppressant meds play into all this.
I downloaded about 50 books on this. eat fermented crap was the main idea i got. No place in my area will let me shop online and husband pick up, except sams club. And nothing fermented. so im just going to eat doughnuts.

(ps ok pretty much none of the above is all that completely accurate,
but I live in my own world, and it's my version.)

The research you want to pay attention to is the stuff involving autoimmune reactions that are caused by the bacteria. Most researchers are publishing papers about strong correlations between bacteria and diseases, and they guess that some bacterial chemicals are the cause, but they have mostly failed to pinpoint the mechanism of this connection.

However, several studies have emerged in the past few years show that the real link between intestinal bacteria and then brain/nervous system is actually the immune system. The immune system makes antibodies against the bacteria there, but in some instances, the antibodies also attack normal human nerves, receptors, and hormones. We call those cross-reactive antibodies or autoantibodies. Check out these studies:

Excellent. Thank you!

thanks people :) and a non-whining (mostly) question re Hit Monitor:

I seriously need to get hit monitor going, as I have too many pandas in PC that would be better w/ HM.
I had a dci version going but some things were not being picked up
and these were hits going on for hours, tried name and id, etc.
And couldn't ever get the sound to work
Tried another version but it seemed like I had to enter every hit individually even though I had a big list (vs pasting it in script)
And basically it should be running in a different browser that I'm not signed into, correct?

Anyway any suggestions or preferences?
Use HIT Finder or Overwatch. All the version of HM that are not made by DCI suck.

So is there anything, anywhere, that goes over what autoimmune diseases they think might be linked with gut bacteria? I'd like to know if Hashimoto's is on any kind of list since it's the autoimmune disease I have. I would also like to know, because I was told by my endocrinologist that people with Hashimoto's often present with other autoimmune diseases and that she thinks checking for some others could be worth it . If you know of any interesting links, I'd love to be directed to them.

So I've been out and have caught the tail end of the gut discussions and wanted to add my 2 cents (I seem to be giving out those pennies a lot lately). Vanyanka @Vanyanka is spot on about gut health being directly linked to our mental health. One common issue I have found (first hand with my husband and historically) is candida overgrowth ... it causes so many other issues (autoimmune, allergies, gluten insensitivity, infections, and tied to some mental illnesses).

We all have candida (yeast-like fungus) in our guts, but some of us (mostly due to our high sugar American diets - yeast feeds off of sugar) end up with an overgrowth and it can wreak havoc on our system. My husband eliminated gluten, alcohol and most added sugars from his diet along with a course of Aquaflora Candida. It has seriously been like night and day. He stills has his moments when he feels like crap, but I can honestly say it's like he's come out of some sort of fog after a decade.

It's not going to solve every problem, but start with your gut and get it cleaned and sorted out ... then work from there.

I'll see if I can find a review that summarizes all of the autoimmune disorders that may be linked to intestinal bacteria, but I know that there is a lot of evidence mounting that Hashimoto's can be linked to intestinal inflammation, so things like Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, and simply IBS might be involved in the development of a multitude of immune disorders. If the intestinal barrier is compromised, bacteria leak out of the place where they are tolerated by the immune system, and suddenly they are invading tissue in which the immune system will mount a major response, and in the process cross-reactive antibodies are formed.

Although I agree its a good idea to limit intake of sugars and alcohol I wouldn't use "Candida Overgrowth" as the main reason for it. If you suspect gastro intestinal issues plaguing your daily life please see a specialist and get your GI tract scoped. If you indeed do have some type of Candida infection it'll be very easy to spot.

Sage advice :)

Should always add that as a disclaimer, thanks for mentioning it!

I was cooking chicken for supper and Zelda decided she wanted some so she jumped on my bum (I guess to crawl up me, I don't really know I don't speak cat.) and now her name is Ass Cat.

I hope you enjoyed this story.
