It's not a joke, either. They are so damn smart it's unreal. When I worked in farm rescue they were almost always my favourite to muck out because they were so funny.

Would you say they were friendly? Do pigs recognize people? Honestly, I've never dealt with a real pig so I am curious.

They're dogs, but one level up - in intelligence, in social 'skills', etc. Super friendly, they're amazing at recognizing people and IIRC have quite a long memory for individual faces. Esther the Wonder Pig is a great example of what pigs are like when they're allowed to just pig all over the place.

Also at the same farm rescue we had a goose named Joey who'd get a delivery of a fresh flower bouquet every day because it made him happy. He would wait by the gate all morning until the delivery guy came, he'd stand the bouquet thing on the floor in the courtyard and Joey would just sit next to it until bedtime kind of softly quacking to himself. Just wanted to share because thoughts of Joey have made me so happy over the years

I butchered the quote. Here is the real one:
I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals

Your re-write is better. "Like" is more personal to the reader than "fond" and it is a shorter sentence; gets the reader into the meat of the quote a tad quicker. And the use of "you" instead of "us": more personal.

I put the quote up on FB, and two minutes later a farmer friend in Washington State wrote this:

That is wild! Sounds like quite the farm. How does one figure out a goose likes fresh flower bouquets?
