If you look deep enough the damn government had something to do with that Patton was always complaining about the Allied Command (mostly US) coddling Montgomery and the Brits. This was another one of those. The Brits charged their soldiers for coffee and doughnuts so the US Army asked the Red Cross not to give the US soldiers free food to keep from hurting the Brits feelings. Or at least that was what I read. I could be iffy on the details.I still remember the story my x's uncle told that I think I've related before. At the Battle of the Bulge the red cross charged the soldiers for their coffee and food.

Don't know. x's uncle is dead of I'd ask. But he fought with the British. If you look deep enough the damn government had something to do with that Patton was always complaining about the Allied Command (mostly US) coddling Montgomery and the Brits. Counting the seconds to 11AM, which I think is an acceptable time to stuff my face with leftover taco dip.
