If I'm being completely honest here... this doesn't really look that much different from my annual Fantasy Football draft group. Maybe a few more backwards ball caps, but...

I *think* rule of thumb for self employment is somewhere between 20 and 25 %

I usually put aside 20% for estimated payments and come out about even each April

How is it lame? We work ... we pay taxes.

Start taking out your weekly taxes just as you would if you worked a 'standard' job and then you don't have to worry about one lump sum at the end of the year.

No i dont have my paperwork i just wanted to get a ballpark figure to see what im looking at. Just curious. I appreciate all the replies.

to be safe i always just assume i'm going to be paying around 20%. better safe than sorry, i'd rather be able to make sure i have the money to pay and possibly get a rebate than owing money.

I did 20% federal and 10% State - this was my first year turking and I did estimated payments, so hopefully I will come out a bit ahead come April

I know there is ALWAYS a chance...but say if you make a decent income in theory 200k+ and you don't claim the 6-7k you make from turking ....the chances of being flagged are probably very slim
