I'm always late to the conversation, but it would be nice if my husband bought me flowers for Valentine's Day for once (or anniversary or birthday or anything). We've been together for almost 9 years and the only time we ever did anything was when I took him out to dinner once. He always complains about how it's a made up commercial holiday. Well, aren't all holidays nowadays? Oh well, he never gets me anything and I never feel obligated to put out.

My ex never got me things for any occasion... or he'd bring home something he "found" that had nothing to do with me, or an interest. (Like someone's personalized 50th-anniversary mugs he found while volunteering at the church's second-hand shop????) So- at least he's not bringing you home trash <3

On the flowers note- I've got some a few times. It always feels really nice but does feel wasteful once they're gone. Now when there are times when flowers would be appropriate, I'm going to ask for plants instead. Once we move I'll finally have a place to plant them and the baby will soon be big enough to (hopefully) stay out of the indoor ones. I'm actually stupidly excited about my plant plan.

Oooh this is a good idea, I'm gonna have to steal it. I love plants. Although I've only ever gotten flowers after performances and that might be kind of a weird situation to hand somebody a potted plant in. But still. I got most of the ones I have right now from funerals (is that a normal thing or is my family just weird? I really don't know) so it would be nice to have some non-death related plants around the house.
