I think since you got the qual, you're fine.
:( ok this is me: in 6th grade I won student council pres, just luck, good poster, whatever,
and i couldn't even enjoy it because I felt so fricking guilty about the people that lost.

I think I have issues. But lately I suck at everything so it's usually ok.

"so many males" does not equate to every male out there. so in a sense you're also stereotyping saying if society wasn't as stupid as it is with how it views makeup and males... most males would use it openly. I disagree with that statement. I don't really know what else to add to be honest. I appreciate the discussion, though. It's a nice discussion unlike the one I had earlier about football
I think that most males would enjoy beauty products, though. Even current trends in marketing point out that men also want to take care of their skin, among other things. If they had the option and weren't raised to think it was womanly (or gay), you can't convince me that most men would not buy and use more products. And I'm not stereotyping, because I also fully acknowledge that there are plenty of women who don't enjoy beauty products, either. I just know that current numbers are significantly skewed because of societal pressure. I also majored in cultural anthropology, so this is not something that I'll concede. :p I don't believe in many inherent differences among males and females. Too much evidence points in this direction.

Can we let this one go, please?

I disagree. And please don't see this as me hating on you, because that's not how I want it to come across at all. I just know so many males who have gotten into their sister's, girlfriend's, mother's (etc, whatever) beauty creams that I can't even count. Because they want to address the same kind of issues women do. Dry skin, oily skin, they want softer skin, they want to cover a pimple (etc).

loki3404 @loki3404 Maybe not makeup specifically, but that's why I said "beauty products". Even though I do also know some straight men that would enjoy makeup - but not nearly to the same degree as general beauty products.

I will argue, though, that the only reason men don't/can't enjoy makeup itself is mainly due to how males are raised and is nothing inherent.
It's starting to change. Recently I've seen a commercial for L'oreal's True Match makeup that had a couple of guys in it. I thought that was pretty cool.

I mean you make a fair point. I think it's a topic to reflect on. I do agree that current numbers are significantly skewed because of societal pressure. There's no doubt about that. Honestly, there's no evidence to prove either of our standpoints if you took out the societal pressure/upbringing aspect. I can say a lot of men would still not buy beauty/makeup products and you can say they would. It's a valuable discussion with no real answer I think

Guys, I'm not sure that the work thread is the best place to be debating gender norms. Let's take it to the General Discussion forum if it's going to continue, please.
