for anyone who is great at saving money...

have any tips?

the obvious answer is "don't touch your money" of course

but it can be tough stuff
Budget budget budget. Know where every dollar is going. Carve out space for fun stuff if you can. Make separate accounts for different goals and needs. I put aside money every month for my car, my heating oil, my upcoming vacation, taxes, and home emergencies. Don't get caught up in how much you're putting away, but be consistent. Track track track. At the end of the month look over what you've spent to find the fat you can cut out. Rinse and repeat. Don't get discouraged when unexpected expenses pop up. Pick yourself up and stay on track. You got this.

My Dad said that you should always pay yourself first. So, treat your savings account like a bill. Put aside a few dollars or a few hundred (whatever works for you) but always pay that "bill". There are a lot of good online savings accounts with better rates than your local bank, plus you'll be less likely to touch it.

I use YNAB and it doesn't make me any better at not spending it, but I can at least see where it's all going and feel bad about it later (ok, maybe it makes me a little better about not spending). I would say put your credit cards away, but I have mine memorized, which is also a problem

I guess what I'm saying is...

I made the homemade tomato soup this morning. took 3 hours and only made 3 bowls. no grilled cheese sandwich to go with it this time. I was disappointed until I tried it. it is the best food in the world!!! I didn't even add salt after I tasted it.

I have heard this advice before. It always seems like you're paying the bank first, not yourself. I have a bad attitude!
