In that case they do make portable ones you can wheel around the house with an exhaust duct you can run out the window or door. They cost a few hundred but still way worth it. And you can move them around to whatever room you're in so that's convenient

I've got one of those ones that uses water to cool the room but it's not so great. Hopefully I can find a new place soon since my lease is ending.

I would always advise against buying a used computer. If you're going to do that, you need to at the very least buy a new hard drive and OS. Install the hard drive (it's literally as simple as connecting a wire from the drive to the motherboard), install the OS. You don't want to take a chance on what they might have had in terms of malware.

On that note, if you haven't updated your system recently, look up the recent march Windows Security Update. It has a hard fix for the most recent ransomware attack, and no one wants to deal with those. You can usually avoid those simply by not clicking things in your email, but it can't hurt to be safe.

I didn't purchase this computer... we got lucky at it was abandoned in a storage unit we were in charge of cleaning out. I'm definitely not turning away free! Plus it has worked fine for two years Just running a little weird the last few days, so it's honestly probably something I've done. I'm guessing I don't have the right anti-virus and whatever else and need to get focused on getting that done after I reinstall Windows. It just did a large Windows update last week, I'm guessing that's the security update you're referring to. I always try to keep everything on it as up to date as possible.

You can always look on craigslist for barely used ones too. Or you can take care of a new one and sell it used when you don't need it anymore. People are always willing to buy them. You'll probably get at least half ur money back

Thanks so much! I agree that I probably should have done that a long time ago and that Microsoft customer support is a joke. I'll definitely check this out as soon as I get the kiddos in bed (30 mins and counting!!! )

All I can tell you about the previous owner is that he was a mid-40's CAD designer who enjoyed gay porn, 80's music, and had two cats. For whatever reason he left this computer and an older 64" TV plus some other random stuff in an abandoned storage unit. My husband was manager at the storage place at the time and basically we hit the jackpot. Here are the computer stats. If you don't mind can you tell me how "good" this computer is? I honestly have no clue... I just know my brother started cursing me out when I told him ROFLMAO

Its a solid mid range computer being several years old. Should last you another few years. If you don't already have one I'd add an SSD the difference in loading is insane and they've come down in price drastically. Considering you got that computer free you scored big. Get yourself a clean oem copy of windows and an SSD and you'll be flying with under $100 investment

I just spent the past hour and a half collecting all the loose change from around my house. Originally I just needed like 3 more quarters to finish off a $10 roll but I ended up collecting about 12 dollars in coins.
